Samaria will bear her guilt, for she rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
Return, Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your guilt.
Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: "Forgive all our guilt and receive us with favor, and we will offer the praise of our lips in place of bulls.
Assyria will not save us; we will not ride on horses, and we will never again say 'Our God' to the work of our own hands. For in you the orphan finds mercy."
I will heal their faithlessness; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.
I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily and sink his roots deep like the trees of Lebanon.
His shoots will spread out; his splendor will be like the olive tree, his fragrance like Lebanon.
Those who dwell in his shade will return; they will flourish like grain and blossom like the vine, and his fame will be like the wine of Lebanon.
Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? I am the one who answers him and watches over him. I am like a flourishing cypress; from me comes your fruit.
Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.
