MatthieuMatthew 4:18-22

18As he was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

19He said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

20At once they left their nets and followed him.

21Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them,

22and at once they left the boat and their father and followed him.

MarcMark 1:16-20

16As he walked along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

17Jesus said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

18At once they left their nets and followed him.

19Going on a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in their boat mending the nets.

20He called them at once, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went off after him.

1One day, as the crowd pressed in on him to hear the word of God, Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.

2He saw two boats sitting by the lake; the fishermen had stepped out of them and were washing their nets.

3He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the land. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.

4When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch."

5Simon answered, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets."

6When they had done so, they caught such a huge number of fish that their nets began to tear.

7So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came, and together they filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

8When Simon Peter saw it, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man."

9For he and all who were with him were seized with amazement at the catch of fish they had taken,

10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will be catching people."

11So they brought their boats to shore, left everything behind, and followed him.

JeanJohn 1:35-51

35The next day John was standing there again with two of his disciples,

36and as he watched Jesus walking by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

37When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

38Jesus turned, saw them following, and asked, "What are you looking for?" They said, "Rabbi"—which means Teacher—"where are you staying?"

39"Come and see," he said. So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour—four in the afternoon.

40Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus.

41He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah"—that is, the Christ.

42And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas"—which means Peter.

43The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."

44Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.

45Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets as well: Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth."

46"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.

47When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit."

48"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree, before Philip called you."

49Nathanael replied, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."

50Jesus answered him, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see far greater things than that."

51And he added, "Truly, truly I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

The paralyzed man healedMML

Friends lower the paralyzed man through the roof.

1Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to his own town.

2And some men brought him a paralyzed man lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."

3At that, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming."

4Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you harbor evil in your hearts?

5Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?

6But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your bed, and go home."

7And the man got up and went home.

8When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

MarcMark 2:1-12

1When he came back to Capernaum a few days later, word spread that he was at home.

2So many people gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he was speaking the word to them.

3Then some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man carried by four of them.

4Since they could not bring the man to Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him, dug through it, and lowered the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying.

5When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

6Some of the scribes were sitting there, reasoning in their hearts,

7"Why does this man talk like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"

8At once Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking, and he said to them, "Why are you turning these things over in your hearts?

9Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'?

10But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—he said to the paralyzed man,

11"I say to you: get up, take your mat, and go home."

12The man got up, and immediately took his mat and walked out in front of them all. Everyone was astounded and praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"

22Jesus knew what they were thinking and answered them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?

23Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?

24But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—he said to the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat, and go home."

25At once the man stood up in front of them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went home praising God.

26Amazement gripped them all, and they glorified God. Filled with awe, they said, "We have seen incredible things today."

While Jesus was in one of the towns, there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Jesus reached out his hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him.
Jesus ordered him to tell no one, but said, "Go, show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
Yet the news about him spread all the more, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their illnesses.
But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray.
One day, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.
Just then some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a bed, trying to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. "Follow me," he said to him.
And Levi left everything, got up, and followed him.
Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were reclining at table with them.
But the Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Then they said to him, "John's disciples fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking."
Jesus said to them, "Can you make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them; then they will fast in those days."
He also told them a parable: "No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will tear the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will spill out, and the skins will be ruined.
No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
And no one who has been drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, 'The old is good.'"
