The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
In the last days the mountain of the LORD's house will stand firm as the highest of the mountains, raised above the hills, and all the nations will stream to it.
Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion goes forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
He will judge between the nations and settle disputes for many peoples. They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and they will train for war no more.
House of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
For you have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with practices from the East and with soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
Their land is full of silver and gold, and their treasures have no end; their land is full of horses, and their chariots have no end.
Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made.
So humanity is brought low, and everyone is humbled — do not forgive them.
Go into the rock, hide yourself in the dust, before the terror of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty.
The proud eyes of man will be brought low, and human arrogance will be humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted on that day.
For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up — and it will be brought low:
against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan;
against all the towering mountains and all the lofty hills;
against every high tower and every fortified wall;
against all the ships of Tarshish and all the splendid vessels.
Human pride will be humbled, and human arrogance brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted on that day,
and the idols will vanish completely.
People will go into the caves of the rocks and into holes in the ground, before the terror of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
On that day people will throw away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, and cast them to the moles and the bats.
They will go into the crevices of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, before the terror of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
Stop relying on man, who has but breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?
