1After this, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. This is how he revealed himself.

2Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of his were together.

3Simon Peter said to them, "I'm going fishing." They said to him, "We're coming with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4When day was already breaking, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus.

5So Jesus said to them, "Friends, haven't you caught anything to eat?" "No," they answered.

6He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and they were no longer able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

7Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him, for he had stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.

8The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards.

9When they came ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and bread.

10Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."

11So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish—a hundred and fifty-three of them. And though there were so many, the net was not torn.

12Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" for they knew it was the Lord.

13Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them, and the fish as well.

14This was now the third time Jesus revealed himself to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs."

16A second time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Take care of my sheep."

17A third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved that Jesus asked him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

18"Truly, truly, I tell you: when you were younger, you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go."

19He said this to show by what kind of death Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me."

20Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them—the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray you?"

21When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?"

22Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."

23So the word spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus had not said that he would not die, but, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?"

11But Mary stood outside the tomb, weeping. As she wept, she bent down to look inside,

12and she saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13"Woman, why are you weeping?" they asked her. "They have taken away my Lord," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him."

14With that she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know it was Jesus.

15"Woman, why are you weeping?" Jesus said to her. "Who is it you are looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him off, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away."

16Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned to him and said in Aramaic, "Rabboni!"—which means Teacher.

17Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.

1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

2So she ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him."

3So Peter and the other disciple set out for the tomb.

4They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.

5He bent down and looked in, and saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.

6Then Simon Peter came up behind him and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there,

7and the cloth that had been around Jesus' head was not with them but folded up by itself in a place of its own.

8Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. He saw, and he believed.

9For they still did not understand the Scripture, that he had to rise from the dead.

10Then the disciples went back home.
