A psalm of David. LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy. In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness.

Do not bring your servant to judgment, for no one alive is righteous before you.

For the enemy hunts me down; he crushes my life to the ground. He makes me dwell in darkness, like those long dead.

So my spirit fails within me; my heart is numb inside me.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.

I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah

Answer me quickly, LORD; my spirit is spent. Do not hide your face from me, or I will be like those who go down to the pit.

Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for I trust in you. Show me the way I should walk, for to you I lift up my soul.

Deliver me from my enemies, LORD; to you I flee for cover.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

For your name's sake, LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness bring me out of trouble.

In your steadfast love cut off my enemies; destroy all who oppress my soul, for I am your servant.
