For the choir director. Of David, the servant of the LORD.

Deep in my heart I know what sin declares about the wicked: there is no fear of God before his eyes.

For he flatters himself in his own eyes too much to detect his guilt and hate it.

The words of his mouth are malice and deceit; he has stopped acting wisely, stopped doing good.

On his bed he plots trouble; he takes his stand on a path that is not good; he does not reject what is evil.

LORD, your mercy reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your judgments like the great deep. You save both man and beast, O LORD.

How precious is your mercy, O God! The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

Continue your mercy to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright in heart.

Let no arrogant foot trample me, and let no hand of the wicked drive me away.

There they lie fallen, the workers of evil, thrown down, unable to rise.
