PsalmsChapter 105

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the peoples what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonders.
Boast in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Look to the LORD and to his strength; seek his face always.
Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles and the judgments he spoke,
you offspring of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments reach across the earth.
He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations,
the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
"To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you inherit."
When they were few in number, only a handful, and strangers there,
wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
he let no one oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
"Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm."
He called down famine on the land and cut off every supply of bread.
He sent a man ahead of them—Joseph, sold as a slave.
They bruised his feet with shackles; his neck was put in irons,
until the time his word came true, until the LORD's promise had tested him.
The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
He made him master of his house, ruler over all he owned,
to bind his officials at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom.
Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob lived as a stranger in the land of Ham.
The LORD made his people very fruitful, too numerous for their foes,
whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to deal deceitfully with his servants.
He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness, and the land grew dark; yet they did not defy his word.[^1] [^1]: The subject is most likely Moses and Aaron, who obeyed the LORD's command; some understand the line as a question about Egypt's defiance.
He turned their waters into blood and killed their fish.
Their land teemed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.
He spoke, and swarms of flies came, and gnats throughout their country.
He turned their rain to hail, with lightning flashing through their land.
He struck down their vines and their fig trees and shattered the trees of their country.
He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts beyond number.
They devoured every green plant in their land, they ate up the fruit of their soil.
Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength.
He brought his people out with silver and gold, and among his tribes not one stumbled.
Egypt was glad when they left, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
He spread a cloud as a covering, and fire to give light by night.
They asked, and he brought quail; he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river through the desert.
For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant.
He brought out his people with joy, his chosen ones with shouts of gladness.
He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of what others had toiled for,
so that they might keep his statutes and guard his laws. Praise the LORD!
