PsalmsChapter 17

A prayer of David. Hear my just cause, LORD; listen to my cry; give ear to my prayer— it comes from lips without deceit.
Let my vindication come from your presence; let your eyes see what is right.
You have tested my heart and examined me by night; you have refined me and found nothing wrong. I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.
As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
Hold my steps steady on your paths, that my feet may not slip.
I call on you, O God, for you answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my words.
Show the wonder of your faithful love, Savior of all who take refuge in you, saving them by your right hand from those who rise against them.
Guard me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
from the wicked who assault me, from my deadly enemies who close in on me.
Their hearts are sealed in fat; their mouths speak with arrogance.
Now they have closed in around us, dogging our every step, their eyes fixed to bring us to the ground.
He is like a lion hungry for prey, like a young lion crouching in hiding.
Rise up, LORD! Confront him, bring him down; rescue my life from the wicked by your sword.
Deliver me by your hand, LORD, from men of this world whose portion is in this life. You fill their bellies with what you have stored up; their children have their fill, and they leave the rest to their little ones.
But I, in righteousness, will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with your likeness.
